My Criminal Life is back (in alpha)

The game first opened in August 2013 and went quiet by the end of 2016. It's being rebuilt now, sign-ups are open, and here's what alpha means for you.

A boarded-up storefront with the boards half pried off and warm light pouring out, drawn in a comic-book style.

My Criminal Life first opened on August 28, 2013. It was a small game. We had a few regulars, very few donors, and I was busy with other projects. Players drifted off, and by the end of 2016 the game had gone quiet.

This year I dug the old files out of a backup and started rebuilding it. Sign-ups opened on October 15, 2026.

What alpha means

The game is playable, but it's still being built. Some things you should know before you sign up:

  • Your progress will be reset before the full launch. Money, levels, items, homes and gangs start over. Play now to learn the city and help us find what's broken.
  • Things change every week. Numbers get rebalanced, pages get redrawn, and a few doors in the city still say "soon".
  • If something breaks, tell us. The contact form reaches me directly.

What's already in

  • Noob City on a map. The Explore page is an illustrated map of the city now. Hover a building to light it up, click to go in.
  • Most Wanted. Bosses with a price on their heads. Everyone who damages one gets a cut of the stash.
  • The casino. New tables and machines, with the real odds for every game published in the Rules.
  • St. Jude's Church. Confess, light a candle, or get married.
  • The Promotion page. Leveling up shows you what the next level gives before you take it.

What's next

Gang turf is what we're working on next: the city split into blocks that gangs fight over. Halloween is coming too. More on that soon.

Thanks for being here this early.
