Patch notes

What's new

Every update that changes something you can see, newest first. The game is in alpha, so there are a lot of them. For what is open right now, see Game status.

Version 0.41.0

Leaderboards and a Hall of Fame

  • New public leaderboards show the top 20 by level, gang respect, overall stats, house, jail busts and hospital revives. Anyone can look, signed in or not.
  • Only players with a public profile are listed. Switch yours off in Preferences and you leave the boards too. Overall stats and houses are ranked, but your stat totals and your house stay private.
  • The Hall of Fame keeps the records that stay: the first player to reach levels 10, 25, 50 and 100, and the people who reported a security problem the right way.
  • The top three biters of every Zombie Outbreak go into the Hall of Fame when it ends.
Version 0.40.0

Your Gang becomes the Gang HQ

  • Your Gang is now one Gang HQ with tabs: Overview, Members, Vault, Armory, Upgrades, Wars, Crimes and Settings. You only see the tabs your rank can use, and the buttons work without reloading the page.
  • Presidents can name up to five ranks and tick what each one may do: pay from the vault, recruit, run wars, plan crimes, buy a bigger place for the gang, edit the emblem. The vice president can do all of it.
  • The vault keeps a ledger of every donation, payment and upgrade, with what was left in the vault after each one. Every member can read it.
  • An organized crime that got stuck in planning can be called off now. Nothing is paid or charged.
Version 0.39.0

The stock exchange gets a trading floor

  • The MCL Exchange is open for trading: buy and sell shares in eight city companies. Prices move every five minutes.
  • The stock exchange has a new look: each company has its own logo, a ticker tape runs across the top, and today's biggest risers and fallers sit under the index.
  • Prices update on the page by themselves. A clock counts down to the next price move, and anything that moved flashes green or red.
  • Point at a chart (or touch it on a phone) to see the price at that moment. Each company also has a Daily candles view showing how every day opened, closed and swung.
  • Checking a price and confirming a buy or sale happen right on the page, with no reload. Quick buttons fill in how many shares $1,000, $10,000 or $100,000 buys after the fee.
  • Your portfolio shows what your shares made or lost today, how your money is split between companies, and what your shares were worth hour by hour over the last week.
  • The Criminal Times shows the company logos next to its stock tables. On a day nobody bought the banner ad, the paper runs one of its own.
  • You can buy ads in The Criminal Times: a banner or a classified, at a posted daily price. Your first ad runs once an editor approves it.
Version 0.38.1

Straight answers about fights and gangs

  • The FAQ, the About page and the tutorial now say what each way of ending a won fight pays: Leave Them gives experience, Mug Them takes some of the cash they carry, and Hospitalize Them keeps them in the hospital longest.
  • The gang answer now says what a war is for: every fight a member wins against the other gang earns your side respect.
Version 0.36.0

Your profile gets its own share card

  • Share your public profile on Facebook, in a text, on WhatsApp or in an Instagram message and the preview shows your own card: your name under the crown, your rank and level, and your gang.
  • The card redraws itself when your name, rank, level or gang changes.
  • Changed your name? Links to your old name keep leading to your profile for 90 days, unless someone else takes the name or you switch your profile off.
Version 0.35.0

The bank gets a makeover, and the Cyber Bank closes

  • The bank is a real building now: Crown Savings & Trust, with a teller window for deposits and withdrawals, a new accounts desk, and a full statement of every move in and out of your account.
  • The Cyber Bank has closed. If you had money in it, all of it is in your regular bank account now, with no fee, and an Event tells you how much moved.
  • The page for sending bank money to another player now shows its form, in the new look.
Version 0.34.0

Version 0.33.0

Pick your street name

  • New players start out as Recruit and a number. Now a card on your home page asks what they call you on the street: type a name, see right away whether it is free, and save it without leaving the page.
  • Changing your name in Settings follows the same rules: 4 to 16 letters, numbers, spaces and _ - . A name that looks too much like another player's, sounds like staff, or is a slur is turned down.
  • Leaving your Recruit name is free; after that you can change your name once a day. A name you give up is kept for you for two days.
  • Spaces in a new name stay spaces. They used to turn into the word "Username".
Version 0.32.0

Patch notes and a status page

  • Patch notes are new: every update that changes something you can see gets a note, newest first, going back to October 8.
  • The new Game status page shows whether the city clock is on time (jail and hospital timers, the energy refill, payday, and the nightly reset), what is open right now, and what is on this week.
  • Both are linked at the bottom of every page outside the game, and from the News page.
Version 0.31.0

Public player profiles

  • Every player has a public profile page that anyone can open, signed in or not: name, level, rank, gang, and a few other public facts.
  • It never shows money, stats, your email, or where you are, and a player can switch theirs off.
Version 0.30.0

A front page and four guides

  • The game's address now opens a real front page for visitors: what the game is, cards with art, and screenshots. Signed-in players still land on their own home page.
  • Four guide pages: How to play, Gangs, Casino games, and the City map. A Guide link sits in the top menu between About and FAQ.
  • The sign-in page is just for signing in now, with a welcome-back card.
Version 0.25.1

Five small fixes

  • Losing a fight you started now costs the experience the 2013 game meant: the bigger the level gap, the more it costs. A typo made the cost almost random before.
  • The bank and the Cyber Bank pages no longer promise a daily payout the game doesn't make.
  • The Promotion page no longer says bosses pay experience, and the help pages name the right job requirements: strength, labour, and IQ.
  • A door on the map that leads to a closed market now says soon, instead of opening a dead end.
Version 0.25.0

Friends and Enemies for everyone

  • The Friends and Enemies lists are free for every player. They used to be a donator perk, so most players couldn't even accept a friend request.
  • One Friends & Enemies page with three tabs (Friends, Requests, and Enemies), an Add box that takes a name or an ID, and a note on each player. Everything happens in place.
  • A friend request now asks the other player, who can accept or decline with one tap, and you hear when it's accepted. Enemies still need no answer.
  • Add friend and Add enemy work from any profile, and the profile shows where you stand with that player.
Version 0.22.4

The Antidote gets its Use button

  • Fixed: the Antidote had no Use button in your inventory. Now it does, and its item page says what it does.
Version 0.22.3

Mail keeps your apostrophes

  • A mail that says "Don't" now reads "Don't", not "Don\'t". The same goes for quotes, in the subject and the message.
  • Mail to a player with an apostrophe in their name, like O'Kelly, goes through when you type the name.
Version 0.22.2

The human check stays on the page

  • The quick human check on the Gym and Crimes now opens over the page instead of sending you somewhere else. Tap the word for the number shown and carry on.
  • If your 30-minute pass runs out while you play, nothing is spent: pass the check, and the training set or crime you pressed goes through once.
  • Not now (or Esc) closes it, and the keys 1 to 9 answer too.
Version 0.22.0

Cookie notice, Security page and bug bounty

  • A cookie notice on the pages outside the game asks before any analytics run. Declining changes nothing in the game, and Cookie settings at the bottom of the page brings the notice back.
  • A new Security tab in the Rules explains how to report a security hole, the rules for testing, and the rewards, paid in game cash, points, and donator days by how serious it is.
  • A Whitehat badge for players who report a real security hole.
  • The contact form asks what your message is about, with Security report as one of the choices.
Version 0.21.0

Breaking News in your mailbox

  • Breaking News moved into the mailbox. Every new announcement arrives in your inbox from System, and the Mailbox count includes it.
  • A Breaking News tab in the mailbox keeps every announcement ever posted, so you can catch up on what you missed.
  • Player of the Week is back. Every Sunday just after midnight, New York time, one player who played that week wins 7 donator days, 20 points, and $3,000. The Criminal Times shows the winner.
Version 0.20.0

Gang emblems and colors

  • Gangs have emblems. The president or vice-president builds one in the staff room from up to 12 shapes (71 to pick from), each with its own color, size, and angle.
  • Every gang has a gang color and an accent color. The emblem shows on the gang pages, Gang Central, profiles, the home page, the online list, the jail and hospital lists, Gang Wars, the crew chat, and the fight screen.
  • See an emblem that breaks the rules? Report it from that gang's page.
  • The old gang picture link is gone. The emblem takes its place.
Version 0.19.0

News and a press kit

  • A News page, at the top of every page outside the game, for announcements, updates, events, and a look behind the scenes.
  • A press kit for writers and streamers: a fact sheet, descriptions ready to copy, the logos, and the game's colors.
Version 0.18.0

The Zombie Outbreak

  • Noob City has a Zombie Outbreak from Monday, October 19 to Sunday, November 1, Eastern time. It starts and ends on its own, and a few players who have been around this week start as patient zero.
  • Zombies bite by beating a human at their level or higher in a fight. A bite turns them. Zombies get energy back with every bite and heal twice as fast, but they can't use guns or ride the monorail.
  • Humans who play during the outbreak and are still human at the end win a prize, and so do the three zombies with the most bites. The event page has the prizes and the score.
  • Antidotes turn up at the City Dump while it runs. One makes a zombie human again.
  • A countdown strip at the top of every page shows the time left, your side, and the score. The skyline changes while it runs. The Criminal Times covers it, and the last edition names patient zero.
  • Badges are new on profiles. The first four come from this outbreak, and the Hall of Fame gets an Outbreaks tab.
  • Fixed from the 2013 version: any fight winner could turn the loser into a zombie, event or not, and new players started as zombies who couldn't bite. New players start human now.
Version 0.17.1

A better page for wrong turns

  • A page that doesn't exist now shows a rainy crime scene with three ways back: the street, About, and the FAQ.
  • There is a black cat on the dumpster. Poke it a few times. Old-school gamers may find a second secret.
Version 0.16.2

Game emails look like the game

  • The sign-up confirmation email, the password reset email, and the password-changed email now carry the game's own look, with one big button to press.
Version 0.16.1

Signing up

  • After you sign up, the page stays put and tells you to check your email, with a button to carry on into the game.
  • The page that asks you to confirm your email is one simple card. Send me a new link sends a fresh one, up to one every 10 minutes and five a day.
Version 0.16.0

The Promotion page

  • [Up] next to your level now opens a preview first: your next level, and what goes up with it (energy, brave, life, and a merit).
  • Level up to confirm, or pick Not now and keep playing. After that comes a short celebration and the choice to spend your merit or save it.
  • If you aren't ready yet, it shows how much experience you still need.
Version 0.15.1

Security check on the reset form

  • The Forgot password form has the same quick security check as sign-in.
Version 0.15.0

Noob City on the map

  • Explore is now a painted map of Noob City: 35 buildings in seven districts. Hover over a building to light it up, and click to go in.
  • Buildings with more than one door, like City Hall and St. Jude's, open a card of buttons. The Gym, the Local School, the Job Center, and the Newspaper Office are places on the map now.
  • The old list is still there under List view, and phones start on it.
Version 0.13.17

A security check on sign-in

  • Sign-in and sign-up have a small Cloudflare check box. It says Verifying, then Success, and it keeps bots out.
Version 0.13.12 to 0.13.15

A new footer

  • A new footer at the bottom of every page, with links to the Rules, Terms, and Privacy and a button for the game's Facebook page.
  • A bigger scroll-to-top button, with a ring that fills as you scroll down.
  • The pages outside the game got the same footer and the same button.
Version 0.13.11

Easier sign-in

  • A wrong password keeps you on the sign-in page with a clear message, instead of a bare error page.
  • You can sign in with your email or your username.
  • Forgot password? opens the reset form right inside the sign-in card.
  • A sign-in page left open too long says it expired, so you know to try again.
Version 0.13.2 to 0.13.10

The dark theme

  • The whole game moved to a dark look: a dusk skyline behind every page and a new menu down the left side, grouped, with icons. Collapse menu folds it away.
  • The Gym and Crimes get an amber dot in the menu when your energy or brave is full.
  • Explore, school, crimes, the gym, jobs, the shops, profiles, fights, the forums, gangs, Settings, and more were redrawn to match, many with a painted banner. All 12 shop fronts have their own art.
  • Pictures on 42 Explore tiles and 33 school courses.
  • Fixed: the bars on poll results didn't draw.
Version 0.13.1

Inventory, part two

  • Equip, use, sell, and send from your inventory without the page reloading.
  • Pick how many with a stepper (or All), then tap again to confirm.
  • Select several stacks and sell them together.
Version 0.13.0

New About, FAQ, and Rules pages

  • The About, FAQ, and Contact pages were rebuilt, and the public Rules page has the same six tabs as the one inside the game.
  • Fixed: the contact form sends what you typed. It used to strip quotes and call ordinary messages malicious.
Version 0.12.4 to 0.12.5

Inventory, part one

  • Your inventory is a grid of item tiles now, with search, sorting (newest first too) and filters.
  • A Loadout card shows your power and defence. Tap an item for its details, compared with what you're holding, and equip it as primary or secondary in one click.
  • Items borrowed from your gang say so.
Version 0.12.2 to 0.12.3

Pictures

  • The Jail Key has a picture, and an item with no picture shows a sealed mystery parcel.
  • Empty Loadout slots on the home page show faint outlines of what goes in them.
Version 0.12.0

Casino fixes

  • Holding down Enter no longer plays Wiseguys or Better over and over.
  • Holding down Enter no longer repeats a quick bet on the Wheel, and the Wheel shows what you get back in total, like 36x your bet.
  • The odds published in the Rules come from the same numbers the games use.
  • The buttons on the classic casino games are readable again.
Version 0.11.1

A new address

  • The game lives at mycriminallife.com. Old www links forward there.
Version 0.11.0

Live stat bars

  • Energy, brave, will, and health update by themselves every few seconds, and glow when they change.
  • The gym trains in place, with no reload.
  • On a phone, a slim strip with your stats stays pinned to the top.
  • When someone attacks you, a notice pops up to say so.
  • The jail and hospital strip shows up by itself and tells you when you're out.
Version 0.10.0

A new front door

  • A new sign-in page with the game's art, live player counts, and a Show password button.
  • Signing up takes an email and a password. New players start out as Recruit plus a number.
  • Fixed: the sign-in fields came out scrambled on some phones.
  • The black strip across the top of every page is gone.
Version 0.9.1 to 0.9.2

A new header

  • A new header: the painted logo on a graffiti wall, and a gold crown on your browser tab.
  • Fixed: links on the Estate Agent pages and the way back from the casino were hard to read on the dark pages.
Version 0.9.0

New in the city

  • Most Wanted: a boss in every city with a price on their head, from "Big Lou" Ferraro in Noob City to Captain Marisol Vega in Havana. Everyone hits the same health bar. When a boss goes down, the stash is split by damage done, and the hardest hitter keeps a trophy.
  • Mister Hollow walks the alleys of Noob City every year from October 24 to November 2.
  • The City Dump: piles to dig through in every city, for scrap, tools, and whatever other players threw away. A Shovel gets you more digs a day, and a Metal Detector finds more of the rare stuff.
  • Temporary weapons: 20 one-use items for a new Temporary slot, like Pepper Spray, a Smoke Grenade, or a Molotov Cocktail. They leave the other side Blinded, Smoked, or Burning for a few turns.
  • Gifts and treats are back on the shelves, and treats give will. A shop only sells to players in its own city.

The notes go back to version 0.9.0, October 8, 2026. Found something broken? Tell us through the contact form, or Support inside the game.
