FAQ
Questions, answered.
What people ask first about the game, in four groups. Pick a tab, open a question.
What can I do in the city?
Pull crimes, train at the gym, take courses at the local school, work a job and buy a better place to live. Fight other players, start or join a gang, hunt the bosses on the Most Wanted board, dig through the City Dump, try your luck at the casino, read the Criminal Times, or get married at St. Jude’s.
A few doors on the city map are marked “soon”. They are not open yet. The About page has more on each place.
What are energy, brave, will and health?
Four bars at the top of every page. Energy pays for the gym and for fights. Brave pays for crimes. Will multiplies what you get from each gym rep. Health takes the damage in a fight, and at zero you are in the hospital.
A fifth bar tracks experience. When it fills, an [Up] link appears next to your level.
How do crimes work?
A crime costs brave and pays cash and experience. The brave is spent whether the crime works or not. A failed crime takes nothing else, but it can land you in jail. Harder crimes unlock as you level, and a locked crime shows the level it opens at.
The Gym and Crimes ask you to pick a number about every 30 minutes. It is a quick check that a person is playing.
Can other players attack me?
Yes. You attack someone from the search page or their profile, and so can they. A fight takes at least half your energy bar, and once it starts nobody walks away until one of you loses.
Win a fight you started and you choose how it ends. Leave Them is the only choice that pays experience. Mug Them takes some of the cash they carry instead, and Hospitalize Them keeps them in the hospital longest. Lose a fight you started and your health drops to zero and you lose some experience. If someone attacks you and wins, you wake up in the hospital.
New accounts get a few nights of protection first.
Why am I in jail or the hospital?
The hospital is where you land when your health hits zero, usually from a lost fight. Jail usually comes from a failed crime. Either way there is a timer, and you are out when it runs down.
How do gangs work?
A gang is a group of players with a name, a bank and a shared enemies list. Starting one costs $500,000 and makes you its President. The President invites members, appoints a Vice-President and declares wars. While two gangs are at war, every fight a member wins against the other gang earns respect for their side.
What are the ranks?
Your rank grows with your level (the biggest part), your stats and the value of your home. There are 16, from Nobody at the bottom to Untouchable at the top.
