Gangs and turf
You can play My Criminal Life on your own, but a gang gives you people to call when someone picks on you, a shared vault, and a war to win. Here’s how they work.
Sign-ups are open.
What a gang is
A gang is a group of players with a name, a shared vault, a respect score and a list of enemies. Respect is the number that matters between gangs. You earn it by beating up the other side, and a gang that runs out of it is finished.
Joining one
Every gang has a public page with an application form. Gang Central lists them all by respect, and the gang buildings sit at Gang HQ on the South Side of the city map. The gang’s leaders read the applications and say yes or no.
Starting one
Starting a gang costs $500,000 and makes you its president. A new gang starts with 100 respect and room for 5 members, you included.
That’s not first-week money. Most players join a gang first and start their own once they know what they’re doing.
Who runs it
The president runs the gang and picks a vice-president, who helps run things but can’t declare war. Three manager jobs can be handed out to members:
- Treasurer: looks after the vault and pays members.
- War Operator: declares wars, surrenders, and handles applications.
- User Control: handles applications.
The vault
Any member can put cash or points into the gang vault. The president, the vice-president and the treasurer can pay it out, to one member or to everyone at once. Hideout upgrades are paid from it too.
A bigger hideout
A gang’s size is set by its hideout. The first upgrade, a Small Shed, makes room for 10 members. The last, an Underground Bunker, holds 500. Each step is bought from the vault, one at a time, in this order.
| Hideout | Members | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Small Shed | 10 | $15,000 |
| Medium Shed | 20 | $30,000 |
| Large Shed | 30 | $70,000 |
| Small Warehouse | 50 | $150,000 |
| Large Warehouse | 70 | $320,000 |
| Abandoned Theatre | 100 | $1,000,000 |
| Aircraft Hanger | 200 | $2,500,000 |
| Castle | 300 | $6,000,000 |
| Underground Bunker | 500 | $15,000,000 |
Gang wars
The president or the War Operator can declare war on another gang. It costs nothing, and there’s no clock: a war runs until one side surrenders or runs out of respect.
While two gangs are at war, respect changes hands with every fight between their members:
- Mug a member of the other gang, and your gang takes 2 respect from theirs.
- Hospitalize one, and it’s 3.
- Beat one and leave them, and it’s 1.
- Attack one and lose, and their gang takes 1 from yours.
A gang that hits zero respect is disbanded on the spot, and its members are on their own. Nobody can leave a gang during a war, and the presidency can’t change hands until it’s over.
Turf Coming soon
Noob City’s map is being split into city blocks, and gangs will fight over them. The blocks are drawn already. Nobody holds them yet.
When turf opens, a gang will start from a hideout block, take the blocks that share a street with its own in timed fights, and get paid every hour for what it holds. Bigger blocks will pay more, and a few will come with perks for the gang that holds them. Hold every block in a district and your gang runs it, with its name on the map.
Turf isn’t open yet. This page will give the full rules the day it is.
