Rules & Legal
Everything that governs playing My Criminal Life. Signing up or playing means you agree to all six tabs.
Effective October 7, 2026 · Last updated October 7, 2026
These Terms of Service are the agreement between you and The Cocco Group for using My Criminal Life. Please read them. They include limits on our liability (section 16) and how disputes get handled (section 18).
1.Who we are
My Criminal Life (the "game" or the "site") is run by The Cocco Group, based in the State of New York, USA ("we," "us," or "our"). "You" means the person using the site.
2.Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these Terms and to the documents they include by reference: the Game Rules, Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Purchases & Refunds Policy, and Odds Disclosure. Together they're the whole agreement. If you don't agree, don't use the site.
We may update these documents. When we make a change that matters, we'll post it in the game (for example in Breaking News or an event) and update the date at the top. If you keep playing after a change takes effect, you accept it. If you don't accept it, stop using the site and you can ask us to close your account.
3.Who can play
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or play. By signing up you confirm that you are. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its data.
You also can't play if we've previously closed your account for breaking these Terms, or if the law where you live doesn't allow you to use a service like this one.
4.Your account
- One account per person. The Game Rules explain what happens to extra accounts.
- Give us real details. Use an email address you control. We use it to verify the account, reset your password, and send account notices.
- Keep it secure. Use a password you don't use anywhere else and keep it to yourself. You're responsible for everything that happens on your account. If you think someone else got in, change your password and tell us through our Contact page right away.
- It's personal. You can't sell, transfer, share, or lend your account. You're getting a personal right to use it, not something you own.
5.It's a game
My Criminal Life is fiction. It depicts crime, violence, drugs, gambling, and other adult themes in a made-up city with made-up characters. None of it is advice, an endorsement, or an invitation to do any of it in real life. Real-world laws still apply to real people, including you.
The casino and other games of chance use only in-game currency. Nothing you win there can be cashed out, sold, or exchanged for anything of real-world value (see section 6 and the Odds Disclosure).
6.Virtual items and currency
The game has in-game money, points, crystals, items, properties, stats, ranks, and other virtual things ("Virtual Items"). This includes Virtual Items you got by paying real money.
- You get a license, not ownership. We give you a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable license to use Virtual Items inside the game while your account is in good standing. You don't own them, and they aren't your property.
- No cash value. Virtual Items have no monetary value. They can't be redeemed for money or anything else of value from us or anyone else. Selling or buying them outside the game is against the Game Rules, and we don't recognize those deals.
- We can change them. To keep the game fair and running, we may change, rebalance, rename, limit, or remove Virtual Items, prices, odds, and game features at any time. We may also reverse amounts that came from bugs, exploits, mistakes, or rule breaks.
- They end with your account. If your account is closed, for any reason, your license to its Virtual Items ends too, without refund except where the law requires one.
7.Purchases
Some Virtual Items and perks can be bought with real money. Every purchase is covered by the Purchases & Refunds Policy, which explains pricing, delivery, refunds, and chargebacks. Payments are handled by outside payment processors under their own terms. Paying doesn't exempt anyone from the rules.
8.What you post
"User Content" means anything you put on the site: chat and mail messages, forum posts, profile text and images, gang descriptions, bounty reasons, newspaper ads, usernames, and anything else you type or upload.
- You keep ownership of your User Content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display, and distribute it, and to adapt it as needed (for example resizing an image), for the purpose of running, moderating, and promoting the game. This license lasts as long as the content is on the site and for a reasonable time after, including in backups.
- You're responsible for it. You confirm you have the right to post it, and that it doesn't break the law, these Terms, or the Game Rules.
- We moderate. Staff can review, edit, hide, or remove any User Content, including private mail and chat, when investigating a report or enforcing the rules. Don't post anything you need kept from staff. We don't have to keep or return User Content.
- Other players' content isn't ours. It reflects the views of the player who posted it. We don't check everything before it appears, and we aren't responsible for it.
- Feedback. If you send us suggestions or ideas, we can use them without owing you anything.
9.Copyright complaints
If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, send a notice through our Contact page that includes: your contact details; the work you say is infringed; where the material is on the site (a link or username plus page); a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature.
We'll remove material we're notified about when appropriate, and we close accounts of players who infringe repeatedly. If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice the same way.
10.Our stuff
Everything on the site that isn't User Content, including the name My Criminal Life, logos, artwork, characters, text, code, and game design, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may use the site to play the game for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, sell, redistribute, or build anything from our stuff without our written permission. Sharing screenshots and short clips of your own gameplay is fine.
11.Rules of conduct
You agree to follow the Game Rules and the Acceptable Use Policy. In short: one account, no cheating, no automation, no real-money trading, no hacking or disrupting the site, and treat real people decently.
12.Suspension and closing accounts
We may warn you, mute you, restrict features, jail or Fed Jail your character, remove Virtual Items or progress, or suspend or close your account if we reasonably believe you broke these Terms or any document in section 2, put other players or the site at risk, or exposed us to legal liability. Where we can, we'll tell you why. We don't have to give notice first when the issue is serious or giving notice would make it worse.
You can stop playing any time. To have your account closed and its personal data deleted, contact us through our Contact page. Accounts that sit inactive may also be deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
Sections 6, 8, 10, and 15 through 19 still apply after an account is closed.
13.Changes, downtime, and resets
We're constantly working on the game. We may add, change, or remove features, take the site down for maintenance, or stop offering the game altogether. If we ever shut the game down for good, we'll try to post notice at least 30 days ahead.
Sometimes we may have to restore the game from a backup, for example after an attack, a serious bug, or data loss. Progress made after the backup point may be lost. If that happens, we'll re-credit purchases made after the backup point as described in the Purchases & Refunds Policy.
14.Other sites and services
The site may link to other websites or rely on outside services (such as payment processors). We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or practices. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
15.No warranties
The site and the game are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We don't promise that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that any data or progress will be preserved, or that any defect will be fixed.
16.Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, The Cocco Group and its owners, staff, and contractors won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, Virtual Items, progress, or goodwill, arising from or related to the site or these Terms, even if we were told such damages were possible.
Our total liability for any claim related to the site or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) fifty U.S. dollars ($50).
Some places don't allow some of these exclusions or limits, so they apply to you only as far as your local law allows.
17.Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of your User Content, your breach of these Terms, or your misuse of the site, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, including reasonable attorneys' fees. We'll let you know about the claim and may choose to handle the defense ourselves.
18.Disputes and governing law
Talk to us first. Most problems get solved fastest by contacting us. Before filing any claim, you agree to send us a written description of it through our Contact page and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Where. Any lawsuit about the site or these Terms must be brought in the state or federal courts located in or serving Saratoga County, New York, and you and we consent to those courts' jurisdiction. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
Time limit. Any claim must be filed within one year after it arose, unless the law requires a longer period.
19.General terms
- If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't waived it.
- You can't transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours, for example to a new company that takes over running the game.
- We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control.
- Section headings are for convenience only. If a translated version of these Terms conflicts with the English version, the English version controls.
