This policy covers how you may and may not use the site itself: its servers, pages, and data. It's part of the Terms of Service. How you treat other players is covered by the Game Rules.
1.Lawful use only
You may not use the site:
- in any way that breaks a local, state, national, or international law or regulation;
- to commit or promote fraud, or for any unlawful purpose;
- to harm, exploit, or try to contact minors for any reason;
- to send unsolicited advertising or spam, inside or outside the game;
- to upload or link to malware, viruses, spyware, keyloggers, or anything else designed to damage devices or steal data.
2.Security and access
You may not, and may not try to:
- get into any account, page, database, server, or staff tool you weren't given access to;
- probe, scan, or test the site for weaknesses (see section 5 if you stumble on one);
- tamper with requests, cookies, sessions, or game data sent between your browser and our server;
- overload, flood, or disrupt the site, including denial-of-service attacks and floods of requests;
- get around bans, IP blocks, CAPTCHAs, rate limits, or other protections;
- copy, decompile, or reverse-engineer the site's code, except as far as the law allows despite this restriction;
- collect other players' personal information.
3.Automation and scraping
The game is meant to be played by people, one click at a time.
- Not allowed: bots, macros, scripts, auto-clickers, auto-refreshers, headless browsers, and any software or extension that sends requests to the site, or takes game actions, without you manually triggering each one.
- Not allowed: scraping or bulk downloading pages or data, or building tools, databases, or services from data copied off the site, unless we've agreed to it in writing.
- Allowed: tools that only change how pages look on your own screen (for example colors, font size, or accessibility tools), as long as they never send requests, fill in forms, or click for you.
- If we offer an official API or data feed in the future, its own terms will say what's allowed. Until then, assume automation is not.
If you're not sure about a tool, ask staff before you use it. "I didn't know it counted" won't stop a penalty.
4.Content standards
Anything you post or upload must follow the content rules in the Game Rules. In addition, User Content must not:
- infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights;
- be defamatory, which means stating as fact something false that damages a real person's reputation;
- contain anyone's personal information without their permission;
- falsely claim to come from us, our staff, or another person or organization;
- link to sites that host malware, phishing, or illegal content;
- auto-play sound or video, redirect the page, or otherwise hijack another player's browser.
The game's fictional crime is fine to write about. Real-world crime is not: no planning or promoting real illegal activity, and no buying or selling real drugs, weapons, or stolen goods.
5.Reporting security issues
If you find a security hole, report it privately through our Contact page or the bug report page, with enough detail for us to reproduce it. Don't share it publicly or with other players until we've fixed it.
If you found it by accident while playing normally and reported it promptly, we won't punish you for finding it. That protection doesn't cover accessing other players' accounts or data, damaging or altering anything, keeping the gains, or deliberately attacking the site. Good reports can earn an in-game reward.
6.Breaking this policy
We decide whether this policy has been broken. If it has, we may do any of the following: remove content, give a warning, restrict or suspend access, close the account, block IP addresses, take legal action to recover our costs, and report illegal activity to law enforcement and share information with them as the law allows.
